Consultations

There are so many consultations going on at any one time.

The primary one that has our focus around here is the Mark is reporting on at present. And doing a great job. I'll just note this one as its submissions and approach (noting  related inquiries) seem to cover so many different professions and industries.

The primary common interest is in some type of authority (Single Sign On)  which can offer any citizen (various levels of) access to government funded websites. The first step here has been taken. This seems to be an initiative happening in lots of places at the moment.

So it's going to be interesting as to how an Aussie SSO acts as a catalyst to reduce the massive duplication in interactive spaces in the .au domain. Eventually we must decide whether the SSO is simply a way to reduce our need to remember a different password for (just) logging on to federal agencies or whether it might be used to bring together the common (interactive) applications - which revolve around the idea of Platforms for Collaboration; all of which are coalescing around professional groups and their Communities of Interest.
