Groups or Communities of Interest?

Communities of Interest are a great feature of me.edu.au, they enable anyone to collaborate and share ideas on a topic.  This is similar to Groups but with some unique features that offer real benefits in ease of use.  For example Communities of interest are really intuitive to learning how to use and they are open to anyone.

me.edu.au provides Australian education and training professionals with an online networking and profile space.

This quick tour shows you how to get started - to build your profile, connect with colleagues and join communities of interests. But there is more, and we will take you on a tour of other features in our next video.

Search, searching, the glory of search!

To find your way around me.edu.au, don't forget the amazing power of search. The search button on each page gives to access to just about everything on the site. search for Digital StoryetllingSo much so, that as the site grows you will have to refine your searches to narrow down the results. To get best value out of search it is often very effective to use words that are unique. For example, if the word basicvid is used in a title or tag it is immediately discoverable wherever it used in me.edu.au. It is a great promotion tool.

On the disvovery side of search, the search for digital storytelling shown here shows all the people who have mentioned the term in their profile, whiteboard entries as well as a community and blog entries. So it is only a short step to take to start learning and contacting people interested in this issue.
