Wordle

Just the Wordle bug..oh no

Just uploaded a question sheet on the Lion King movie and the randomness certainly adds another dimension to the task and somewhere further for the studnets to explore.

Art blog, something different.

It is great to see the ABC blogging the arts world, espcially in Articulate . It is a interesting and varied coverage of the Arts - both local and global perspectives. Obvivously, some self promotion is included too. But for those who didn't see Barrie Kosky's intereview on arts funding in Australia for example, the blog provides some space for those of us who can't keep a finger onall the buttons. So to speak.

Losing my Twitter momentum

I am a little disapointed in myself for not posting as often as I would like - I know some people have the opposite problem - but not being "logged in " or sitting on my pc recently seems to have affected my ability to Twitter and blog. In some way I am quite happy about this, I am obviously NOT addicted. Phew!

So here's a post to keep the activity going and keep me alive in the cyber world.

Art lessons for adults

I am trying to extend my network and develop ideas to create different types of learning oppportunities for adults in Visual Arts.

I have taught for over 10 years as an art teacher in a secondary school environment adn I am finding teaching adults on a one-to-one basis is also very rewarding.

Whereas students tend to be happy to learn a new skill or develop ideas in an area, adults are more discerning and know what they want from their lessons with me.

I have another blog on Yahoo revolving around Life Drawing I usually point prospective students in that direction so at least they have some idea of where I am coming from.

I'd be interested in your thoughts on the blog or extending traditional teaching environments especially in non-core subject areas.

A tiny URL

An invaluable website for Twitter users is www.tiny.cc . While twitter users would be regular users otehrs might not be. The easy to load and use software shortens those really long URLs and makes them "tiny".

So if you are short for space or don't want your contacts typing 67 characters when they can type 6 have a look at the site and see what you think.

There is a customise option too so you can use your own reference for the shortened version of the site. Anyone know other websites that do a similar function?

Happiness classes

A recent article in a local newspaper suggested that schools should do more regarding happiness classes. This type of article (Putting a smile on their dial Sydney Morning Herald, Weekend edition May3-4, 2008) always gets my whiteboard marker trembling for a number of reasons.

What else do teachers have to do? Is this a useful or educational way for studnets to progress?
