A search engine to find only free ebooks in English and Spanish. Users can search the content of more than 550 free ebooks web sites, including gutenberg.org, wikibooks.org and archive.org. The search results include public domain texts, open books, free audio books, ad-supported books and more.

This report describes a conversion experiment and subsequent reader survey conducted by ACLS Humanities E-Book (HEB) in late 2009 and early 2010 to assess the viability of using scholarly monographs with handheld e-readers. Over 1 million digital books now available free to the print-disabled [edna News]

More than doubling the number of books available to print disabled people of all ages, the Internet Archive has launched a new service that brings free access to more than 1 million books - from classic 19th century fiction and current novels to technical guides and research materials - now available in the specially designed format to support those who are blind, dyslexic or are otherwise visually impaired. Applications are invited from Indigenous communities who are interested in recording, preserving and archiving the stories, accomplishments and reflections of their community members. Indigenous Community Stories is an initiative which is aiming to film 100 Western Australian Indigenous stories and digitally archive them for future generations to view over the next 100 years and beyond. Built on open catalog and open book formats, the BookServer model allows a wide network of publishers, booksellers, libraries, and even authors to make their catalogs of books available directly to readers through their laptops, phones, netbooks, or dedicated reading devices.
