This paper describes a 5-week program intending to offer an experience of e-moderating for self selected university teachers around the world. The online course is based upon Salmon's 5-step model supported by McKenzie's eight key characteristics of scaffolding. These are: clear direction, highly relevant sources, reduce uncertainty, active participation in 'e-tivities', clarifies purpose, express the criteria for assessment, deliver efficiency, and creates 'momentum'.

The network is made up of radio broadcasting trainers from community stations around the country. As a multi-campus RTO, the CBAA establishes partnerships with stations and registers in-house trainers in order to facilitate the delivery of accredited training to around 400 member stations staff and volunteers. The trainers network provides opportunities for the sharing of ideas and information for this geographically dispersed group. In conjunction with our trainer John Price, VELG has developed a one-day workshop that will help support assessors in validation and moderation. It provides assessors with practical tasks and templates to support them in validating assessment at their workplace. This workshop will focus on validation and moderation as a continuous improvement strategy for your RTO. Attendees will also look at assessor skills, planning validation and how to apply their new skills to the workplace.
