This post by Dion Hinchcliffe presents a view of what social media needs to aspire to in 2010. They are: portable identity, contacts and data; better integration of social and local capabilities added to the core of mobile devices; better distributed models for the social web; and the filtering of information in a meaningful way for conversations that may ultimately occur in activity streams across social media platforms.
This research paper explores the ways in which young people's learning and expression are being shaped by mobile and digital technologies, including cell phones, television, video games, smart devices, and computers. According to this report, digital media is already transforming the language and cultural practices that enable early literacy development, making possible a new kind of personal and global interconnectedness.
