National Literacy and Numeracy Week [edna Resources]

Australian libraries and library associations have got together to turn 2012 into the National Year of Reading (NYOR), linking together all the great things that are already happening around books, reading and literacy, and giving them an extra boost, with inspirational programs and events taking place across the country.

The Safer Internet Group brings together Australia's leading sponsors of research, outreach and online safety campaigns, to take effective action to ensure that Internet users, and particularly children, have a safe experience online. Core principles of a safer Internet are: comprehensive cyber-safety education program for children, effective policing of illegal material on the Internet, and appropriate technology solutions which give people choice.

Foundation Day in Western Australia is celebrated on 1 June each year, with a statewide Public Holiday declared on the first Monday of June each year. 1 June 1829, marks a significant date in the history of Western Australia, for on that day the State's first settlers completed their long sea voyage to the Swan River Colony aboard the Parmelia. The site contains a number of fact sheets with ideas about how to celebrate Foundation Day.

With a continually growing collection of online learning materials, peer reviews and assignments, MERLOT helps faculty enhance instruction. MERLOT is also a community of people who strive to enrich teaching and learning experiences.

Mahara is a fully featured electronic portfolio, weblog, resume builder and social networking system, connecting users and creating online communities. Mahara provides tools to setup a personal learning and development environment. No previous experience with Moodle or Mahara is required.
